Week 24: Turkey Trottin'

Image
We met an elderly woman named Mary the other day and did some service for her! We never get to do service around here so I really enjoyed it. She has like a million plants around her house so we just helped her clean up in the backyard. Hopefully we can go back over again soon. We volunteered for the Bulverde Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and it was so fun! We helped hand out bags for the runners before the race and then we directed and cheered them on along the path! I don't care what anyone says, we were the best cheerleaders and I know it. After Thanksgiving dinner we didn't really have anything to do so we wrote gratitude cards for some of our members and then went and dropped them off. It was honestly so fun and it made me really happy! We met a lot of cool people the past couple days. We met this guy named Lajeric while he was out barbecuing for his family and we had an awesome conversation with him! He said he just recently came back to Christianity and is really turning h...

Week 23: I Got Attacked By A Dog

Image
Howdy y'all! We met with Jose (the basher dude I talked about in my last email) on Thursday and his wife joined us for the discussion as well! It actually went a lot better than I thought it would. He had a lot of deep questions for us but I think we did a good job of answering them and keeping the lesson on track. They're gonna meet with us again next Tuesday so pray that it will go well! We had meeting with our ward mission leader this week at his house and his dog almost bit off my face during the prayer. And then it started chewing on my shoes WHILE they were on my feet. I didn't know what to do so I just kept pushing his toy in his face but it didn't work, so I'm a little scared to go back haha. I have mastered crossing a highway on a bicycle. The nearest church building to us is about a 30 minute bike ride away and we have to cross a highway that's under construction to get to it. People probably think we're crazy when they see us riding through all th...

Week 22: Summerglen HILLS

Image
I got to my new area (Summerglen Hills) on Thursday and it's beautiful out here! They weren't joking when they said hills though. God is really testing me by putting me in another biking area, but I am developing some amazing thunder thighs. So I guess it's not all bad.  We talked to this elderly man working on his car on Wednesday and he told us every time he sees us ride by on our bikes he feels God's love and it makes his day. Isn't that crazy?? Most of the time I feel like I'm not really making a difference but apparently just riding by on my bike has an impact on people.  We finally had a lesson with Paula and Cory on my last day in Culebra Creek! Cory was low-key bashy cause he read some anti material, but I think they have a lot of potential!  Okay so on my first day in Summerglen Hills we got 4 numbers! One guy was kinda bashy while also being pretty nice... it was weird. We also met this guy named David at the end of the day! It was pretty cool because ...

Week 21: Zone Monkey Round 4

Image
I'm getting transferred to Summerglen Hills in the Hill Country Zone! I'll be really close to the temple so that's cool! I'll also be the zone monkey (companion of the zone leader) for the 4th time... yaaaayyy. Not that zone leaders are bad!! They are just usually preoccupied with zone leader responsibilities which results in me sitting around or having to make decisions/do things on my own. I've been doing this my whole mission so far though, so I'm pretty used to it. Elder Gonzales and I chased down an ice cream truck last Wednesday even though it was like 50⁰ outside haha. A nice old woman was outside getting ice cream at the same time as us and she turned to us and said, "Well have you decided yet? Because I'm about to pay". So she bought our ice cream!! How nice!!  We filmed the music video for Joseph's Lullaby on Tuesday so catch me going viral on Facebook once the video is done!! (Jk that would be scary) We passed this homeless man on th...

Week 20: I'm Gonna Be A Freemason?

Image
Hello! Due to my lack of energy and time I will just give the sparknotes of this last week: • One of the members in our ward used to be in VocalPoint and we had dinner with him and his family this last week! He was was showing us their albums and it was so cool to see all the songs I listen to that he's in! • My wonderful companion has decided it would be funny to scare me at every opportunity he gets, so I've developed a fear of opening doors and walking around corners. Thanks Elder Gonzales.  • We raced some middle school boys on our bikes and I won • We met a girl named Sadora that's really interested in reading the Book of Mormon!  • We stopped by our friend Ferando's house and found out that he hasn't been getting any of our texts for like 2 weeks. (thanks Satan) So we texted and called him right then and it still didn't go through. After trying to figure it out for awhile one of our texts miraculously went through, so now he'll hopefully be getting our...
