Week 6: Faith And Hard Work Pays Off

Image
Hey everyone!  Honestly I don't remember much that happened this week. I was always so confused when missionaries said they didn't remember what happened during the week, but now I understand cause it's happening to me haha. Here are a few things I do remember:  I went on two exchanges this last week and I'm going on another one soon! So I've basically been packing and unpacking my stuff everyday haha. I'm really getting to know the Elders in my zone though so that's been super fun. We did more service this week and when we were bringing the lawnmower back we saw a lady writing down the scriptures and questions we wrote on the sidewalk the day before, so we went and talked to her. She's from Africa and didn't know English very well but she seemed really interested, so she wrote down our number and our names!  We visited a guy named Fabian that has been meeting with the missionaries off and on for years. He asked me if I was in the chess club in high ...

Week 5: God Is There!!

Wow this week has been crazy. We did some service and let me tell ya... I have never sweat so much in my entire life. This Texas heat is really somethin'. Every time a breeze came or the clouds covered the sun, I took that as a tender mercy from God, haha.  We had exchanges this week so I had to lead out the area! I was kinda scared at first cause I just got here and I have no idea where anything is or who the people we're teaching are, but God definitely helped me figure it out and it ended up working out really well. Elder Knight and I had a really good lesson with a guy named Mondo and his wife Dena. We invited them to read in the Book of Mormon and we're gonna meet with them again on Wednesday!! We've taught a lot of lessons this week and they've all gone pretty well! Being on the mission is hard, but when I see the light in someone's eyes when I tell them about God's plan it makes it all worth it.  Elder Iverson and I were also asked by our mission pres...

Week 4: Texas Baby!

Hey ya'll!     I'm finally in Texas! It was super hard saying goodbye to my friends and family but I'm alive and well here in San Antonio. It's insanely humid and the mosquitos have given me no mercy, but I seriously do love this place.     I flew in last Wednesday with about 22 other missionaries and I met Elder Harper in person which is cool! When we all got off the plane we went straight to the Alamo and then they sent us out to talk to people around the city. The first guy Elder Harper and I talked to was having a really hard time so we prayed with him and gave him a pass along card. We talked to a few other people and when we were heading back this guy said something to us so I walked over and tried talking to him. He immediately threw his hands up and yelled, "IT'S BLASPHEMY FOR ME TO SPEAK TO YOU!" And then he continued to yell at us so I wished him well and we started to walk away... but apparently that didn't help cause he followed us for 4 bl...

Week 3: Next Stop... Texas!

Image
Hey everyone!!     I am officially finished with HMTC! These past 3 weeks went by so fast and I'm going to miss my district so much. It's crazy how close you can get with a group of people by only meeting over zoom. The missionaries in my district have taught me so much and I'm forever grateful for the impact they've had on my life. This applies to my teachers as well! I truly couldn't have been blessed with better teachers. They were such amazing examples to me and have helped me to feel more confident in my abilities and trust in Heavenly Father.     This week Elder Harper and I were teaching a guy and he just casually mentioned that he sells pictures of himself online for work (I think we all know what that means). I actually didn't even hear him say that, but Elder Harper told me later and we couldn't stop laughing. Then a couple days later we ended up watching our lesson in class (even though I protested against it) and my whole district got to witness ...
