Week 41: The Heat Is Upon Us

Image
Happy Monday everyone! This week felt like it lasted an eternity and the blink of an eye at the same time. It's also super hot already. As my mission president once said, "It goes from hot to blast furnace". Thankfully we're just in the hot stage right now.  We unloaded a 26 ft. truck on Saturday for a lady named Christina and 75% of it was Halloween decorations haha. She LOVES Halloween. Maybe a little too much... but it was fun nonetheless! We're not sure what her interest level is but at least we made a good impression.  We went contacting at McAllister Park (a huge park that literally takes up about a quarter of our area) and we started talking to this couple. The man asked why we were dressed up so we told him we were missionaries etc etc. Then we read a scripture and he started asking some deep questions. He seemed really interested but I also felt like he might be a pastor of another church or something haha. His wife was giving me member vibes though so I ...

Week 40: Thunder Thighs Are Back!

BREAKING NEWS: I'm on a bike again! They took our car cause someone else needed it so now both us and the Sonterra elders are on bikes. Both of our areas are pretty big too, so it's been a little bit of a struggle but we will make it work! I've been biking my whole mission until this last transfer so it was a nice little 6 week break, but I guess president didn't want me to lose the thunder thighs I have been working on for all these months haha.  Y'all we had some awesome miracles this week. First off... Don from Las Palapas!! Elder Neddo and I were out biking and we were HUNGRY. We were debating on where we should stop to get food for about 5-10 minutes until I saw Las Palapas on the map and both of us felt like we should go there. At this moment I just thought it was my craving for tacos but come to find out we were supposed to go there so we could meet Don!! Don was our server and asked us about our religion and the Book of Mormon. He said he wants to meet with ...

Week 39: A Banana, One Tortilla Chip, & Two Pieces Of Cookie Dough

I've been out for half a sisters' mission! (AKA 9 months) I'm getting so old! We got transfer news last night. Elder Neddo and I are staying together but they're splitting Sonterra and San Pedro. They're putting us in San Pedro and doubling us out of Sonterra. We JUST doubled into Sonterra 6 weeks ago so I feel bad for them. We're kinda sad too cause we just started bonding with everyone there. We'll miss them dearly.  We had a lesson with our friend Lita this week. She's the wife of one of our members. We had a really good lesson with her about faith and how we must act in faith before we can gain a witness of something. She was agreeing with everything we said and then when I asked her to act in faith by reading the Book of Mormon she gave me a flat out no... I was kinda sad cause we all bore powerful testimonies of the Book of Mormon, including her husband and a member we phoned in, and then she immediately shot us down. She's been taught for awhi...

Week 38: Jesus Is My Driver

We found 5 people this week! Here's the rundown... Alma:  She is the sweetest old lady!! She was a gray dot in our areabook (which just means that she was too busy, unable to contact, or wasn't interested) and we called her up! She said she would like to do a bible study with us and wanted to study Psalms. Elder Neddo and I didn't feel very confident studying Psalms so we started looking for what we should study and I found a verse I had marked awhile ago. It says, "Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord" (Psalm 31:24). We looked at the rest of the chapter and really liked it so we decided to study Pslams 31! And guess what... ALMA LOVED IT! She had so much to say about it and really related to the verses. She told us she has been feeling lonely so we invited her to church and she said she goes to 4 other churches but would try ours out! Unfortunately she didn't make it yesterday because she woke up with a sore thr...
