Week 33: Stanley The Skunk & Transfers

Image
Heyooo Remember that skunk Mary had trapped at her house? Well he's been stuck in that cage for probably 2 months now... she didn't think animal control would take him because of where she lives and she didn't know what else to do so he's just been chillin' there. We were amazed that he was still alive but then we found out she started to feed him because she felt bad haha. She asked us to grab this big plastic bag thing and put it over his cage so we could move it without getting sprayed. So we did what she said but we still didn't know exactly what her plan was. We brought him out to the front and she wanted us to just release him into the street hahaha. We were like uhhh is there anywhere else we can release him... like an empty lot or something? So we went and found one a little ways down the road and then proceeded to carry it over there by putting a big metal stake through the handle and holding it on either side so that the cage was swinging around in the...

Week 32: Soar, Baby, Soar

Howdy! This last week we were mostly in quarantine but we got out on Thursday!! That night we stopped by Monica and Juan to drop off the Book of Mormon and Monica kind of shewed us away, so that made me sad, but Juan looked excited to read it! On Friday we met with Sheila and finally gave her a large print Book of Mormon! When I told my mom that we were having trouble getting a large print Book of Mormon she hopped online and ordered one right away! Thanks Mom you're the best! Sheila was so grateful and has already started reading!!  We got a call from one of our members on Friday asking if we could come help with a service project and we were stoked! People from all over the area were donating beds, tables, dressers, books, clothes, etc. for refugee families so we drove around picking it all up and then we dropped it off the next day. We also helped move someone Saturday morning so it was just a day full of service! I loved it!  On Saturday we were praying before heading to d...

Week 31: Covid & Bellybutton Pics

¡Hola Amigos! The other week we met this lady named Monica and we offered to help take down her Christmas decorations, so we exchanged numbers and she said she would give us a call. She never ended up calling us so we stopped by on Thursday and her husband answered the door. We actually thought her name was Monique so when we asked for her he was like, "uhhh no she doesn't live here" and then his daughter was like, "yeah she does! I remember you guys!" So we ended up talking to Juan (Monica's husband) and he was so nice!! He told us that he lived right next to the temple in Venuezla and that it looks a lot like the San Antonio Temple! Then Monica came over and we talked to all of them for awhile and set up a time to come drop off a Book of Mormon! Monica made it clear she wasn't promising anything and that she's a strong catholic but I think they still have a lot of potential.  Later that night we went to stop by a member's house and right as we ...

Week 30: A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Helloooo... here's the rundown of our disastrous week: We stopped by someone's house the other day cause it's been awhile since missionaries had talked to him and he was literally on his death bed. His daughter answered the door and we asked how he was doing (not knowing he was sick) and she said he had about 1 hour to live. so uhhh that was really awkward and sad. Bless their poor family. Great timing though right??  Sooo we got dog poop on our bike tires and we didn't know until we brought them into our apartment... and then for some reason I decided to try and get it off with paper towels and that didn't work out very well. So now we have exiled them to the balcony and if anyone wants to steal them they'll get a nice surprise.  This morning I got two aggressive drivings!! The first one was definitely my fault, but it gave me a second one when I sped up to get on the highway. Thanks tiwi (tiwi is the little computer we have in our cars that gives us viola...

Week 29: Bring It On 2022

Happy New Year!! It was a pretty slow week because everyone was so busy with the Holidays but it's a new year of new beginnings and we're ready to rock and roll!  Lately Elder Yardley and I have been finding shortcuts in our area and people have been looking at us weird haha. Probably cause we've been walking in these concrete gutter things behind people's houses but hey we gotta do what we gotta do.  We were supposed to have 3 people at church but they didn't show up. I was a lil sad but that's just missionary life so I'm used to it lol.  I went to the temple this last week!! Someone from Elder Yardley's last area was going through for the first time and we were invited! This was the 4th time I've been to the temple in the past 6 months and I'm soooo sooo grateful for all those experiences. The San Antonio Temple has such a special place in my heart and given me so much comfort in trying times. I always leave there feeling refocused and closer t...
