Week 63: The Baptism Must Go On!

Image
We got transfer news last night and I'll be staying here in Del Rio for another transfer with Elder Christensen! Everyone was saying I was going to get transferred but I proved them wrong haha. I am pretty surprised I'm staying though. After next transfer I will have been here for 6 months. I'm so excited to see what we can accomplish in this next transfer! Tanya and her boys got baptized on Saturday but there's a twist... we had a member pick up a baptismal suit for her from Uvalde the night before and she didn't have a chance to try it on until right before the baptism and it didn't fit. So we were scrambling to find something white that she could wear and about 45 minutes later we finally found something! Tanya told us that she could wait to get baptized but we were not gonna let that happen. Then Sunday morning rolls around and she texts us and says she's throwing up so she won't make it to church to be confirmed. So they're getting confirmed nex...

Week 62: Googly Eyes On The Book Of Mormon?

Image
We found a ton of people again this week so now we have 57 people we're teaching and we even stopped teaching a few people the other week. I think it's time to clean up our teaching pool haha.  We had a lesson with Tanya and her boys yesterday after church and Isaiah was there so he joined us. We were going over the baptismal interview questions and we've never had a lesson with Isaiah before so that was definitely interesting hahaha. The questions were for Tanya and her boys but Isaiah answered them as well and he honestly did pretty well... maybe we'll put him on date soon?? We have a lesson with him on Thursday.  We met a lady named Twila the other week who has no teeth and lives at this pretty sketch trailer park. We gave her a Book of Mormon and when we called her last week she said she had read almost the whole thing. When we went back to meet with her she showed us her Book of Mormon and it had googly eyes and hearts glued to it... yeah kinda weird right? She ...

Week 61

Y'all, miracles are literally flowing down from heaven.  ☆ We put Tanya and 2 of her boys on date for baptism for August 27th (hopefully her 3rd son tonight as well). ☆ This super elect guy named Isaiah came to church with some members and he wants to be a missionary?? We got his number so hopefully we will be teaching him soon! ☆ I had probably the most spiritual lesson of my entire mission so far with Regal. Yes, Regal. He was super weird the first time I met him but every time we see him again he's more normal. We've talked to him a few times now but hadn't had a sit down lesson until we stopped by last night and taught him the restoration on the spot. When I recited Joseph Smith's first vision the winds calmed down and we all felt the Spirit rush in. I asked Regal how he felt and he couldn't deny that he was feeling the Spirit. We continued to talk about the Book of Mormon and Christ's church being restored to the earth and he told us he knows Joseph Smi...

Week 60: Instruments In The Lord's Hands

Image
Wow, this was probably one of the best weeks of my mission (as far as the work is concerned). The Lord placed us in the path of 16 new people to teach and many others who we just need to set up an appointment with! On Wednesday we found (found = having a first lesson and scheduling another one) 5 new people in one hour. We were truly instruments in the Lord's hands!  Here are some of our new friends:  ☆ Alex: He wasn't super open to our message at first but we got talking with him and he told us he's been struggling with the death of his mom. We testified of the Plan of Salvation and he said he really wants to meet with us! We have a lesson tomorrow :) ☆ Yarisma: We read a scripture with her that says, "Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him" and she told us that her sister had just told her earlier that day that she needed to offer her whole self to God. She kinda took that as a sign that she needed to meet with us. The cool part t...

Week 59: Menudo Is Not The Move

Image
We had a jam packed week! Here are some random things that happened: ● We were tracting some houses and this guy named Ryan tried to bash with us. He kept telling us that we believe that we earn our salvation and it made me kinda mad. He didn't want to listen to us even when we stumped him. I gave him a Plan of Salvation pamphlet with our number on it if he wanted to actually sit down with us and learn more. He hasn't contacted us yet though so I don't think he's open to it haha. ● We were out street contacting one night and these kids called over to us and asked if we were looking for their dad. We were like "uhh yeah I guess we are?" haha. We walked over and they said their dad wasn't home and asked if we could give them pictures of Jesus. So we gave them some Jesus cards and a pamphlet. They were so happy and asked for extras haha. It was adorable! Seriously made my night. I want to love Jesus like those little kids.  ● Later that night we walked up to ...
