Week 76: "You Are ugly" - Crackhead Guy

Image
Michael got baptized!! He's so stoked to be a member of Jesus Christ's restored church and is asking when he can get the priesthood and go to the temple! Gosh he's the best.  I got my trainee (Elder Scott) on Wednesday and it's been a blast! I feel like I got my young missionary energy back! Elder Scott is definitely not shy when talking to people and is very eager to share the gospel. Sometimes I have reign him back haha. It's like raising an energetic child. I love his enthusiasm though! Pray that I can train him up right We talked to some crackheads this week and one of them called us ugly hahaha. This is how it went down... So we were street contacting in a sketchy neighborhood and we started talking with this guy and found out he was thirsty. We told him we had a water bottle in the car and would go grab it for him. After talking to a few more crackheads on the way we got to our car and drove back to this guy's house. When we knocked on the door we heard so...

Week 75: I'm Gonna Be A Dad!

I'm getting a lil niño!! (AKA I'm training a new missionary. As missionaries we call our trainees our son/daughter and they call their trainer dad/mom) I've always said I wanted to train at some point but now I'm kinda scared haha. Hopefully he doesn't hate me. I got Elder Hoyal as a temporary companion until I get my trainee on Wednesday. Wish me luck!! All the sisters that came out to the mission field with me went home last week. I'm also now the oldest missionary in my district which is weird. I guess that means I'm getting closer to the end of my mission? Less than 7 months to go! I spoke in church yesterday and I didn't freak out like I usually do! I definitely got nervous but I've gotten much better at public speaking. #progress We met this guy named Aaron last week and had a lesson on his bed yesterday hahaha. His family was cooking and watching football so we did the lesson in his bedroom. That was definitely a first for me. It went really w...

Week 74: Excited For Jesus!

Y'all it got cold here! It literally went from 85⁰ to 40⁰ in one day. Now the highs are in the low 60's. I'm thriving because now I get to wear sweaters! The best article of clothing ever! Our transfers got moved up to this Friday but we won't get news until Wednesday. Hopefully I don't get transferred. I've put way too much work into this area for that to happen. Plus I was asked to give a talk on Sunday so I kinda have to be here. #theygotmeagain Michael's family no longer support him joining the church so he's been going through it but he's pushing forward. I'm so proud of him. He also asked me if I could baptize him. He's my homie for life now. Speaking of baptism... my friend, Pascual, from Del Rio got baptized on Saturday! Aaahhh I'm so happy for him! Oh and remember Ryan who got baptized right before I left Del Rio? His mom is on baptismal date!  We did a ton of tracting this week and found 7 new people to teach! One of them being ...

Week 73: I Got TB

Image
Y'all this week was such a blur. I barely remember anything that happened besides killing about 50 cockroaches.  We also had to drive to San Antonio 3 days in a row and it's an hour drive one way. Plus we went to Floresville twice this week. As my dad always said on roadtrips, "You got TB? Tired butt?". Yes, yes I do, Dad.  In other news, we had a phone call with a lady named Cindy who has been taught for over a year and she told us that her fiance is her 1st cousin. *Sweet Home Alabama plays in the background* They didn't know until after they were dating for a while apparently... still pretty weird though. Anyways, she said that it just recently became legal in Texas for them to get married. Yay? But she also told us that she wants to get baptized and that she's ready to break up with this man if he's not willing to join the church with her. Yay?! It was a pretty weird call honestly but she has a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and the church so t...
