Week 37: Texas Weather Is Wack

Image
Texas weather is so bipolar and I don't know how to handle it. On Wednesday it went from 84⁰ to 32⁰. SOMEONE EXPLAIN. Then our heater broke and it got very very chilly in our apartment. We basically just carried all our bedding around with us that next day because we were so cold hahaha. We stopped by this lady named Laura and she told us that we wouldn't want her because she drinks coffee and swears haha. We told her those really aren't big issues and that we aren't anywhere near perfect. Then she told us about all the Mormon Utah moms that she follows on social media and how perfect and put together they are. We were like, "Ya know, I'm sure they don't have it together any more than you do, social media just makes it seem that way". She didn't seem to believe us though haha.  On Saturday night we stopped by this elderly lady named Sandy and she was literally the SWEETEST person I've ever met. She couldn't stop talking about how much the L...

Week 36: 2/3 Left To Go

Image
I am more than 1/3 into my mission. Sheesh! Time flies and this week flew by even faster! I can barely remember anything that happened haha. We're finally starting to figure out the area and getting to know people though! On Wednesday we found this cool graffiti wall in a pretty sketchy part of town and stopped to take pictures. And then while we were taking pictures this guy started flashing his lights and honking at us. He was blasting nasty rap music and looked like a for real gangster so I thought we were gonna get jumped lol. Don't worry mom, I said a little prayer in my heart and we got out alive.  We got a few doors slammed in our face this week but the funniest one was this lady that requested a missionary visit online a little while ago. When she answered the door we told her who we are and she said, "Oh, well thanks for stopping by". And then closed the door. We just stood there like huh?? Most the time people aren't that nice when they close the door on...

Week 35: Comp #12??

Update: Elder Taylor went home to serve a service mission and I got a new companion, Elder Neddo! If I count all the trios I've been in, Elder Neddo is my 12th companion . Elder Taylor left on Wednesday morning so I got put in a trio (which resulted in us covering 5 wards at once  ) until Friday afternoon when I finally got my official companion haha.  On Friday Elder McKay, a general authority seventy, visited our mission and gave some awesome trainings! He really inspired me to lose myself in the work and let Christ change me! I feel like I have not been putting in as much effort as I could lately, so I'm ready to be all in and give my will to God.  We delivered and assembled beds for people in need on Saturday! We went to the south side of San Antonio which was pretty sketch but it made me so happy to see the smile on the kids faces when we showed them their new beds. Service is the best! A bunch of other stuff happened this week including exchanges with the assistants...

Week 34: Prez Said PSYCH!!

Image
PSYCH!! I got transferred. Wednesday afternoon I got a call and was told I was actually getting transferred to Sonterra/San Pedro, which is actually my mission president's ward and in the assistant's district. If I'm being honest though, I was devastated to get this news. I was already in the mindset that I was staying and I didn't want to leave all the amazing people in Summerglen Hills. I also had to pack up all my stuff really fast and I didn't get time to say goodbye to anyone.  I was told my companion would be Elder Neddo but then right before transfers I was told my companion would actually be Elder Taylor (at least for the time being). And we're doubling in, which means all the missionaries that were in this area left and we were both moved in. There were Sisters and Elders in this area so we got both of their teaching pools for Sonterra and San Pedro. Last time I counted we have 22 people we're teaching.  The apartment we moved into was also super di...
