Week 45: To The Border

Image
Y'all, I'm going to Del Rio , literally the furthest place I can go in the mission... and it's on the border of Mexico. I guess I better start working on my Spanish. In other news, we put Tia on baptismal date for May 7th!! I don't know how I forgot to mention her in my last email. This woman has basically been begging us to baptize her haha. A couple weeks ago while we were texting her she randomly said that she wanted to be baptized the next Sunday. We did not expect that at all! We realized she probably didn't know that we don't baptize people at our church service and she hasn't been taught all the lessons so we told her we would need to meet with her to go over some things. Then a few days later, she was having car troubles and we asked one of our members to help her out. Later that night she posted and gave a shout out to her "friends at the Church of latter day SAINTS" on Facebook so I commented and said we were so glad we were able to help ...

Week 44: Happy Zombie Jesus Day

Image
Happy Easter y'all! Or as the lady outside my apartment said, "Happy Zombie Jesus Day" (yeah probably not the best thing to say).  This last week we busted our butts trying to get people to church. We were very busy texting, calling, stoping by, encouraging, and consoling people but no one came... even the people who said they would be there. BUT 5 other people came that we didn't invite!! Miracles are real! It may not have turned out how I expected but I was happy nonetheless! One of the people that came was the friend of a member. Her name is Suzy and we might start teaching her. She's hilarious. Last Monday Elder Neddo and I were tracting and we were not having much success. We were about to leave but we decided to knock on one more door and the nicest man answered. He started talking to us before we could even get in a word. He basically invited himself to church and set up another appointment with us so that was pretty cool. Sadly he's sick right now so w...

Week 43: They Finally Got Me!

Image
Hey y'all! We spent a lot of hours in the hot Texas sun working this past week but unfortunately not much happened. We haven't been having much success with our friends and it makes me wonder if I could be doing more or if I'm working hard enough. So far in my mission I haven't seen anyone progress very far in the gospel and sometimes it makes me question if I'm doing something wrong. That isn't the only variable though. Every person has the gift of agency, and no matter how much I want someone to accept our message and start on the covenant path, it's their choice. I just want people to have the same joy and peace of mind that I have felt and experienced from living the gospel. Missions are so hard, however, I will keep pushing forward. I love my Savior more than anything in this world and I know He's real. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's restored church upon the earth and no one can take my testimony away fro...

Week 42: Miracles And Struggles

Image
This week I feel like I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Barely anything went as planned and I am exhausted in every way. First off, Lita. Oh Lita. We had a 2 hour lesson with Lita and it was pretty rough. She told us she knows that what we teach her is true but she just doesn't want to be a "Mormon". We told her it's not about being a "Mormon", it's about following Christ and what we know to be true. We were very bold but loving with her and we really poured our heart and souls into that lesson. By the end we had really made no progress but Lita said she was going to take action on something. We asked what it was and she said it was personal so we have no idea what it is. We'll see! The other week we talked to this guy in his driveway and he told us his neighbors might be interested in hearing a message and talking about religion. So we stopped by yesterday and this preacher guy answered the door and started throwing a...
