Week 43: They Finally Got Me!
Hey y'all!
We spent a lot of hours in the hot Texas sun working this past week but unfortunately not much happened. We haven't been having much success with our friends and it makes me wonder if I could be doing more or if I'm working hard enough. So far in my mission I haven't seen anyone progress very far in the gospel and sometimes it makes me question if I'm doing something wrong. That isn't the only variable though. Every person has the gift of agency, and no matter how much I want someone to accept our message and start on the covenant path, it's their choice. I just want people to have the same joy and peace of mind that I have felt and experienced from living the gospel. Missions are so hard, however, I will keep pushing forward. I love my Savior more than anything in this world and I know He's real. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's restored church upon the earth and no one can take my testimony away from me. So despite the hardship, I will continue to share the gospel with every person I come in contact with because that's my duty as a disciple of Jesus Christ. If they can't see the truth in what I say, that's okay and I will still love them nonetheless. I'm doing what I know to be right and I will continue to expect miracles! Anyways... I'll get off my soapbox now haha.
Yesterday I got asked if I could give a talk in church. And as much as I wanted to say no, I kindly obliged. I was hoping I could escape giving a talk my whole mission but they finally got me!
In this last General Conference President Nelson invited us to end the personal conflicts in our lives. He said, "My call today, dear brothers and sisters, is to end conflicts that are raging in your heart, your home, and your life. Bury any and all inclinations to hurt others—whether those inclinations be a temper, a sharp tongue, or a resentment for someone who has hurt you. The Savior commanded us to turn the other cheek, to love our enemies, and to pray for those who despitefully use us. It can be painfully difficult to let go of anger that feels so justified. It can seem impossible to forgive those whose destructive actions have hurt the innocent. And yet, the Savior admonished us to 'forgive all men.'" This reminded me of what the Savior taught the people in the Americas after His resurrection. He said, "And there shall be no disputations among you, as there have hitherto been; neither shall there be disputations among you concerning the points of my doctrine, as there have hitherto been. For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another (3 Nephi 11:28-29). Isn't it interesting that this is one of the first things Christ teaches the people? It must be pretty important, right? The spirit cannot abide with us in a contentious environment and if we don't have the spirit we cannot be guided and learn what Christ is trying to teach us. So end those conflicts!!

Our mission had an Easter Musical Broadcast this week and you should totally check it out! We watched it yesterday with an elderly couple in our ward and the spirit was so strong. We were all in tears. Here is the link if you'd like to watch: https://facebook.com/events/s/ he-is-risen-an-easter-musical- /266353935549797/
