Week 11: Josephine Smith

Image
Hey y'all! There wasn't much that happened this week, once again, but there's a few things worth mentioning: On my exchange with Elder Taylor we met with a man named Ron and taught him about the plan of salvation. He really connected with it and liked what we said. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he asked us to dedicate it so we wrote our names and testimonies inside!  On Friday we helped Chastity (one of the office ladies that works at our apartment complex) hand out notices to some of the residents here. It was raining really hard, so when we were driving around water was pouring off of the golf cart and falling on us haha. It was fun though. A few weeks ago Elder Iverson and I talked to this girl at a gas station that was having trouble with her car. We ended up getting her number and we've been in contact with her ever since, but we haven't been able to schedule an appointment. We called on Saturday and she said she's moving to Houston, but is definitely in...

Week 10: The Light At the End Of the Tunnel

Image
This week was pretty slow so I'll just give a list of my highlights and lowlights of the week. Highlights: ☆ We got fed almost every day this past week which is not common for us so that was really nice. ☆ Austin and his family came to our ward party on Friday and the members of our ward befriended them like no other! I'm so proud of them!! ☆ We spent a lot of time with Lola this last week. We went over as a district to her house for a few hours on Wednesday and made some Filipino food and also did our district counsel there! It was a lot of fun!! ☆ Lola and Lance (another recent convert) are both working towards going to the temple so I'm super excited for them! ☆ We've been helping a sister from the Valley Ranch Ward with building furniture and organizing/cleaning her house. Organizing is one of my favorite things to do and she feeds us really good Indian food so it's a win win. ☆ I gave a Book of Mormon to the lady that cut my hair today! We talked about how she ...

Week 9: My First Transfer

Image
It's transfers week! I will be staying in my area with Elder Iverson which I'm really happy about! 33 new missionaries will be coming in on Wednesday so I won't be the baby anymore haha. Guys, I met the weirdest dude the other night. We were riding our bikes through a neighborhood and there was a man outside cleaning up his yard. We stopped to talk to him and he asked if we were Mormon. We said yes so he came over and starting talking about how he knows everything about our religion and that he owns an old VHS tape produced by our church. We asked what his name was and he said some super long name, so all I caught was "Pastor Charles". He ended up inviting us into his house, which was actually more like one big garage with stuff piled everywhere. He showed us all these books he had and then gave us one about Hillary Clinton and said it was his gift to us haha. Now here's the best part... he told me to play his piano and then stopped me halfway and told Elder I...

Week 8: One Month Down

Image
I've been out on my mission for over a month! Time has flown by so fast. Not a lot has happened this week but there's a few things that are worth mentioning. One of our friends that we're teaching asked us if we could feed her birds while she was gone this past weekend. We felt so honored that she trusted us enough to do that! She said she wants to come to church again this coming Sunday and take us out for breakfast sometime too! Lola has handed out 178 Book of Mormons since last October and her goal is 200 before this coming October. She's a missionary powerhouse for sure. I went on an exchange with Elder Taylor on Friday and it was so cool! We visited a family that was referred to us and they actually let us in their house and we talked to them for a little bit! Their kids were so sweet and showed me all their toys. One of the little boys asked me to pick him up so he could sit on my lap and I had to tell him no (because missionaries aren't allowed to hold childr...

Week 7: Busy Busy Busy

Image
This week was crazy busy!! P-days are also super busy for me, so this email is probably gonna be super random. Also I wrote this out yesterday but I forgot to hit send... oops. I got to go to the temple two times in one week! I am so blessed! The first time was with my district and then we went with a convert and her husband from Elder Iverson's old area. The spirit is so strong in the temple. It truly feels like  heaven on earth. We did service on Saturday for about 4 hours right after frisbee golf with our stake so we were super exhausted. We also did service on exchanges and I had to clean hair out of a shower drain... it was so gross. I just manned up and did it though and the lady was really grateful. Service is such an amazing way to bless both your life and the life of others! I love it!  One night Elder Iverson and I felt prompted to stop by a house on our way home. This guy answered and asked if we were LSD haha. So we told him it's LDS and then he said he was actuall...
