Week 10: The Light At the End Of the Tunnel
This week was pretty slow so I'll just give a list of my highlights and lowlights of the week.
Highlights:
☆ We got fed almost every day this past week which is not common for us so that was really nice.
☆ Austin and his family came to our ward party on Friday and the members of our ward befriended them like no other! I'm so proud of them!!
☆ We spent a lot of time with Lola this last week. We went over as a district to her house for a few hours on Wednesday and made some Filipino food and also did our district counsel there! It was a lot of fun!!
☆ Lola and Lance (another recent convert) are both working towards going to the temple so I'm super excited for them!
☆ We've been helping a sister from the Valley Ranch Ward with building furniture and organizing/cleaning her house. Organizing is one of my favorite things to do and she feeds us really good Indian food so it's a win win.
☆ I gave a Book of Mormon to the lady that cut my hair today! We talked about how she found Christ when she was in a really dark place and how he's truly aware of us. We put our number in the book so hopefully she'll call us at some point.
Lowlights:
◇ Austin wasn't able to make it to church on Sunday because of some family issues, which means he can't get baptized this Saturday. He needs one more sacrament meeting attendance to get baptized so now we have to reschedule :/ The adversary works so hard on those that are working towards baptism, but I'm not too worried because I know he's still set on getting baptized.
◇ A lot of the people we're teaching were having a hard time this last week with health or emotional issues so we weren't able to meet with them. It was pretty discouraging, but we always have next week!
◇ Our apartment constantly smells like weed and it's making me sick so that's a bit frustrating, but I'm happy to be in this new apartment because it's cleaner than our last one and we were able to organize and throw a lot of junk away in the process of moving. It's also on the first floor so we don't have to carry our bikes up to the 3rd floor everyday now!! So hey, there's always a bright side.
Scripture of the week is John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
My mom shared this scripture on a Facebook post and it was exactly what I needed in that moment. There were a lot of disappointments and trials this week so this scripture really helped comfort me. It's crazy how much a scripture can bring so much comfort. So when you're feeling down, go to the scriptures!
