Week 67: 3 On Date!!

Image
The work is going so fast here. I can't keep up! Last week we had 70 green dots so we stopped teaching quite a few people who aren't making commitments. We also put Rigo (found out that his name is actually Rigo, short for Rodrigo, not Regal... oops. Kinda embarrassing) and Ryan and Savannah on date for baptism!! We set Rigo's baptismal date for October 8th but he had to go out of town this last weekend so he missed church. Usually someone needs to attend church 3 times before being baptized and he's only been once so we may have to push his baptismal date back. He wants me to be here for it though so we might do it on the 11th. Transfers are on the 13th and we don't know if I'm leaving Del Rio yet but it's pretty likely that I will. Ryan and Savannah also decided they want to be baptized on October 8th! They're engaged right now but I told them they would need to be married to be baptized and they said, "Oh don't worry, we'll take care of i...

Week 66: A God Of Miracles

Image
I know I say this all the time but I have really seen God using me as an instrument in His hands this past week. My testimony has been tested and tried but also strengthened and secured.  Also I basically use these emails as my journal so welcome to my novel.  Here are some of the miracles I saw this week: ☆ We found 10 new people to teach this week and 6 of our friends came to church! ☆ We gave our zone conference training and didn't die! Apparently the other missionaries enjoyed it as well. I have to keep telling myself that they're being genuine and not just saying that to be nice lol.  ☆ We met with Michael and his daughter Mikayla (who is almost 11 years old) two times this week and Mikayla said she wants to be baptized!! Now they just need to come to church. ☆ We stopped by Virgie on our way back down to Del Rio from zone conference and she said in a couple weeks she's going to start coming back to church and meeting with us!! ☆ We met a man named Mark who already k...

Week 65: The Mosquitos Have No Chill

Not gonna lie... this week was super draining for some reason. My patience has really been tested, disappointments have weighed a little heavier on me, and I've run out of all types of energy. Honestly the work is still popping off here but I'm just a bit burnt out... no better way to be burnt out than in the work of the Lord though amiright?? We've been doing A LOT of tracting this week and we've met a lot of cool people! Going door to door (tracting) can be hard sometimes but you always meet the weirdest people... and sometimes they even yell at you, but it doesn't bother me much. I'm so used to it at this point haha.  Saturday night we decided to stop by our favorite shaved ice shop here and this couple decided to sit with us. The woman was absolutely insane and really intense but her husband was pretty nice. We talked with them about our faith and beliefs and he told us that he used to be the pastor of the International Church of Christ. He said that he once...

Week 64: Dancing In The Rain

Tanya and her boys got confirmed at church yesterday but we weren't able make it because Elder Christensen started throwing up the night before. He thought he felt good enough in the morning to go to church but when we pulled into the parking lot he changed his mind and when we got back to our apartment complex he threw up when he got out of the truck. Poor guy. I felt so bad. I stayed up with him most of the night so we were both exhausted so we slept a lot and I did an immense amount of personal study.  On Saturday we did a ton of service and it was great! We did our usual service at the coaltion center in the morning and helped one of our friends, Michael, move houses in the afternoon. He was really grateful and said him and his daughter want to join our church?? Not exactly sure what he means by that but we're excited to keep meeting with them!  Later that night we were walking the streets and asked some drunk guys if we could share a scripture with them and they waved us ...
