Week 19: Homies Can Be Together Forever

Image
Wow, it was quite the rollercoaster of a week.  Here are some fun facts:  - I ran into the bike rack on the car and bruised my arm. Ouchie.  - I have officially confirmed that my companion eats his boogers (if anyone asks, I said nothing) - A scorpion decided to just waddle its way into our apartment when we opened our door this morning and I did not approve.  We had a lesson with Miguel on Tuesday and he said he's not ready to pray about a baptismal date. Sad... but it's okay! We told him we love him and we don't want to pressure him into anything. I'm sure he'll get there someday. It'll just take time. We and the sister missionaries were the costume contest judges for the Culebra Creek Ward's trunk or treat on Saturday! It was pretty fun and a little stressful at the same time haha. Some of the kids looked so sad when they didn't win, but hey, it builds character right? Oh, and we invited Candace and her kids and they showed up!!  Culebra Creek also ha...

Week 18: The Big 1 9

Heyoooo  The weather really cooled down this week so I was able to wear a sweater!! If you know me, you know I love sweaters. So I was very happy.  My birthday was on Thursday!! We went out to dinner as a district which was so fun! My mom was so kind to send birthday decorations and have cupcakes delivered to my apartment so we had a little party after 9. We also popped popcorn and watched The Phone Call cause it's the closest thing to a movie that's accessible to us lol. So honestly we didn't do much for my birthday but it was refreshing to not have a birthday all focused on me. We even found two people that night and we had a really good lesson with one of them just a few hours ago! Wednesday night we had the biggest thunderstorm I've ever experienced. We had about thirty minutes until we needed to be in bed, but we were like let's go outside. So we ran around in the parking lot and got completely soaked. It was seriously so fun. Elder Gonzales and I decided to do...

Week 17: BREAKING NEWS I ATE RAW FISH

Image
Howdy! This last week was awesome! We had dinner and a lesson with the Martinez family!! (The one I talked about in my last email) They ordered sushi for dinner and neither Elder Gonzales or I have had raw sushi before so that was fun! We even ate the nigiri! Not gonna lie the nigiri almost made me barf but I'm glad I tried it! We had a really good lesson with them after and the spirit was so strong. They weren't very vocal during the lesson so we're not exactly sure how they felt about it but we have high hopes for them! On an exchange with Elder Murdock we were out street contacting and we were about to head home cause it was dark and then we heard some car doors slam and people screaming and cussing at each other. Then we saw a girl run inside and two other guys get out of the car with something that looked like a crowbar and we're pretty sure they broke in. We prayed to know what to do and we both felt like we should call 911. While we were on the phone they all cam...

Week 16: Dogs, Scorpions, And Lizards!

Image
Howdy! Once again, I can't remember anything that happened this week, so I'll just tell you the two biggest highlights! We met the coolest family on Saturday. I was looking at my areabook map and saw this family lived nearby that hadn't been contacted in awhile. I felt good about stopping by, so we did and they let us in!! We talked to them for a long time and they told us they used to come to church and ward activities and loved it. They said they have relatives that are members so they know quite a bit about the church and Earnest, the dad, studies the Book of Mormon with his cousin sometimes cause she's a seminary teacher and tells him what she's teaching her students. They were so so nice and said they want to have dinner with us this week and they're gonna pay for our groceries. How nice is that?! I'm so excited to start teaching them again aaaahhhh!! Oh yeah, and their records were going to get deleted on December 1st so it's good we stopped by whe...
