Week 17: BREAKING NEWS I ATE RAW FISH
Howdy!
This last week was awesome!
We had dinner and a lesson with the Martinez family!! (The one I talked about in my last email) They ordered sushi for dinner and neither Elder Gonzales or I have had raw sushi before so that was fun! We even ate the nigiri! Not gonna lie the nigiri almost made me barf but I'm glad I tried it! We had a really good lesson with them after and the spirit was so strong. They weren't very vocal during the lesson so we're not exactly sure how they felt about it but we have high hopes for them!
On an exchange with Elder Murdock we were out street contacting and we were about to head home cause it was dark and then we heard some car doors slam and people screaming and cussing at each other. Then we saw a girl run inside and two other guys get out of the car with something that looked like a crowbar and we're pretty sure they broke in. We prayed to know what to do and we both felt like we should call 911. While we were on the phone they all came back outside, got in the car, drove past us, and then stopped in the middle of the road. We thought they were about to come beat us up or something but they all just opened their doors, closed them, and sped off. We told the police what the car looked like so hopefully they were able to find them.
A less-active member moved into our ward this week so we helped her move in and then her family came into town and invited us to dinner! We went to a Jordanian restaurant and it was SO GOOD. Everyone at the restaurant were smoking with these really big hukka things, but it was still fun haha.
We had a lesson with Candace and it went great! (She was referred to us awhile ago but we haven't been able to meet with her cause she's been sick) We talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ with her and asked if she could read the Book of Mormon everyday and she said she will read it for an hour a day! How cool is that?! No one ever says that!!
We got a referral yesterday and they want to have dinner with us this next week! And we haven't even met them yet! Isn't that crazy??
Don't get me wrong, serving a mission is really really hard and it's definitely not always rainbows and roses, but I'm trying to not focus on the hard things. My testimony and influence of the spirit has never been stronger and I have seriously grown so much already!
Scripture of the week is Moroni 7:13
"But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God"
Elder Gonzales and I have been talking a lot about how extending invitations is so important. Without invitations there's no commitment, and that is how we become closer to God! And we can know that something is inspired of God if it's a good thing. Simple as that! Speaking of invitations... I would like to invite y'all to make it a priority to read the Book of Mormon everyday! I know if you do this you will find peace, answers, and an influx of the spirit in your life!
I love you all!
