Week 80: Christmas Disasters & Christmas Miracles

Image
Y'all, it got COLD this week and I loved it! It definitely wasn't as cold as the rest of the country but humid cold is somethin' else. It'll be back in the 70's this week though. This week I nearly burned our apartment down with an air fryer. But don't worry, I acted promptly, put out the fire in the sink, and was able to cook my chicken nuggets soon after. We found out on Christmas Eve that one of our friends is in jail. I'm not gonna say who, but that was a bit of a downer for us. Hopefully she's out soon. She really is a good person (I think) We met this lady named Amanda and she had so many questions for us including how someone goes about getting baptized. Whaaaatt??! It was really cool and she was super pumped about coming to church and meeting again. The day of our lesson her phone was dead and she didn't answer the door so we're not sure what happened. Pretty heartbreaking not gonna lie. Pray that we get back in contact with her! This wee...

Week 79: He Is The Gift

Image
Hello hello! Last Monday night we went to the river walk in downtown San Antonio with our district. I got paired up with Elder Clarke and we went forth to spread the light of Jesus Christ with people! That lasted about 10 minutes until this guy started bashing with us and wasted our night. Kinda made me upset but we still had fun and gave out a lot of Light the World cards!    I sang and played the guitar in the missionary Christmas devotional. I was terrified and definitely sang like a nervous little boy but I'm glad I did it. Though I feel like I could've done better, I learned and grew through that experience.  Michael has been doing better recently and asked for a priesthood blessing. As I laid my hands on his head I had no idea what I was going to say but I felt the words flow right through me. God was truly speaking through me to Michael. It was the most powerful blessing I've ever given and I could feel such a strong presence of the Spirit in the room.  On Sat...

Week 78: Saving Souls

Well this was one rollercoaster of a week. Stress and emotions were high but I also had many powerful experiences with the Spirit. Monday afternoon we were walking around a little town called Leming and we began talking with a guy outside his house. Then just a minute or so later his cousin pulled up and joined the conversation. Somehow Joseph of Egypt became the topic of discussion and we had to clear up that story because they had it very wrong haha (I think they were on drugs). Then Nick (the first guy we started talking to) told us he had oil from Jerusalem and asked if we anoint and bless others. We told him we do but that we only use oil for those that are physically sick/hurt and that the oil would need to be consecrated and we didn't have oil on us. He really wanted us to use his oil but we told him if he wanted a blessing we could do it without the oil. So then we gave these two guys priesthood blessings right then and there. I've never given a random person a blessing...

Week 77: Suprise Temple Trip!!

Image
Hello everybodyyyy! We had a pretty good week! On Wednesday we went to the "New Missionary Follow Up" meeting that all the trainers and trainees go to. Usually on the first day when you fly in all the new missionaries go straight to the Alamo but they didn't have time to do that this time so all the trainees went on Wednesday and all the trainers did an endowment session in the temple! It was a surprise too! Anytime I get to attend the temple I am so grateful. While I was in the celestial room I felt as if I was actually in heaven (as I usually do). But this time was extra special. I felt God tell me that He loves me and that no matter what troubles I may face I don't need to worry. I learned that if I prioritize God in my life then everything else will work itself out and one day I will rest from all my cares in the kingdom of God. The peace I felt while in the temple was indescribable, so much that it pained me to leave. I could stay there forever. One night we were...
