Week 77: Suprise Temple Trip!!

Hello everybodyyyy! We had a pretty good week!

On Wednesday we went to the "New Missionary Follow Up" meeting that all the trainers and trainees go to. Usually on the first day when you fly in all the new missionaries go straight to the Alamo but they didn't have time to do that this time so all the trainees went on Wednesday and all the trainers did an endowment session in the temple! It was a surprise too! Anytime I get to attend the temple I am so grateful. While I was in the celestial room I felt as if I was actually in heaven (as I usually do). But this time was extra special. I felt God tell me that He loves me and that no matter what troubles I may face I don't need to worry. I learned that if I prioritize God in my life then everything else will work itself out and one day I will rest from all my cares in the kingdom of God. The peace I felt while in the temple was indescribable, so much that it pained me to leave. I could stay there forever.

One night we were calling some of the people we met recently and one of them was the wrong number. We asked if Teresa was there, the person said no, and that his name is Jehu. Long story short... he ended up talking to us for 25 minutes about basically his whole life story which was absolutely INSANE. I can't even begin to explain the extent of what he told us. He said he'd like to meet with us and talk for about "3-4 hours". We told him 1 hour would be plenty haha. We'll see what happens with that...

We have a Puerto Rican family in our ward and they fed us some fire Puerto Rican food. Part of the meal was fried plantains with fry sauce and it was seriously so yummy. 10/10 would eat again. They also have a referral for us so that's exciting!

Recently we've been teaching this older couple named Francis and Lorenzo. Lorenzo has Lou Gehrig's disease and I feel so bad for him but he's seriously the sweetest man. He has so much faith and makes me really appreciate the little things in life. He also told us about how he got abducted by aliens. Honestly it was pretty believable haha.

Yesterday while stopping by some friends this group of little kids asked us to read them something from our "bible". We were holding Book of Mormons so we explained to them what that is and read a scripture about how following the commandments bring us happiness. Then we gave them pictures of Jesus. That is seriously one of my favorite things to do. I love it when kids want to talk about Jesus!

Elder Dunn, a General Authority Seventy, is visiting our mission this week and he's coming with us to a lesson tomorrow. I'm super excited and maybe a little nervous?

To kick off the Christmas season you should start by watching The Christ Child!! It's basically a movie but it's like 17 minutes long. As I watched it the other night I couldn't help but feel a great appreciation for the faith and dedication of Mary and Joseph. I couldn't imagine having the responsibility of raising the Savior of the world. I also felt so much gratitude for my Father in Heaven who loves us so much that He was willing to give His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for sin, and especially for Jesus Christ because he loves us so much that He was willing to do it.
