Week 89: Bomb Threat!?

Image
So I forgot to mention this in my last email but last Sunday while we were sitting in sacrament meeting this random man walked in with a suitcase. The members thought we knew him but we didn't. He also started live streaming church?? Honestly our biggest concern wasn't that though. We were just hoping we weren't gonna have a bomb threat at church haha. We talked to him after and we could barely understand him so we were really confused. Maybe we'll see him again! We met this kid named Zeus and his friend Juan this last week! Yesterday we taught them about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and it was really powerful. They started off not believing in Jesus Christ and left with hope and a desire to believe.  We also met this family who has been struggling with addiction but are determined to overcome it with the power of God. We were able to testify of Jesus Christ's love for them and how willing He is to intervene in their lives if they believe and follow Him. It was a s...

Week 88: A Trip To The ER

Image
My parents have been in San Antonio since last Thursday and it's been such a weird feeling to know that they're so close but not being able to see them in person. I even got to call them on Saturday too because it was my dad's birthday.  Being back on bikes has been fun except that my new companion, Elder Aguado, crashed on his bike and hurt his shoulder. It still hurt pretty bad the next morning so we went to an ER. He got a bone bruise and is wearing a sling so they gave us a car for the time being. He's also been a little sick so we haven't done as much as we would have hoped. Needless to say, it's been an interesting and difficult week.  I found out that some people we were planning on putting on date for baptism in Pleasanton set baptismal dates! I'm so excited for them!! I still miss Pleasanton a lot but Heritage Ward is awesome as well! The members are really cool and we have 3 friends on date. They have a lot to overcome though so it's gonna be a...

Week 87: Referrals Referrals Referrals

Image
So funny story... a few nights ago I prayed to my Heavenly Father and asked him to help me develop more humility... Well my prayer was answered. I'm getting transferred... to the largest biking area in the mission. Yay!! I'm really sad to leave Pleasanton for real though. It has such a special place in my heart. Just like Del Rio, I feel like I'm leaving home.  I went on an exchange this week in the San Antonio 1st Ward and played connect 4 with an old man in a nursing home, conducted my first baptismal interview, and had a lesson that President Fitzgerald joined! It was pretty cool.  On Thursday we got bashed by a guy named Todd. We met with him when I first got to Pleasanton and we were finally able to meet again. When we sat down for the lesson, he went to the other room and came out with a list of "questions". AKA a bash list. So instead of us sharing a message about Jesus Christ he went down his list and criticized everything about our church and the Book of ...

Week 86: The Nerve!

We changed Logan's baptismal date to March 22nd because he and his grandpa wanted him to have a little more time to prepare and that's also his grandma's baptism anniversary!  Yesterday we had about 20 people who should've been at church and only 8 people came but that's okay! EJ bore his testimony again and called us Elder Christensen and Elder Scott instead of Trevor and Mason haha. He's learning! We also bore our testimonies with him. Michael (our friend who got baptized in November) came too and he's doing so much better! He's working towards receiving the priesthood and going to the temple!  I forgot to mention this last week, but last Sunday a member of our ward brought their friend, John, to church! We talked to him after sacrament meeting and gave him a picture of Jesus to use as a bookmark in his Book of Mormon. When we handed it to him he said, "Oh this is kick a$$!" hahaha. Definitely not the most appropriate thing to say about Jesus...
