Week 89: Bomb Threat!?

So I forgot to mention this in my last email but last Sunday while we were sitting in sacrament meeting this random man walked in with a suitcase. The members thought we knew him but we didn't. He also started live streaming church?? Honestly our biggest concern wasn't that though. We were just hoping we weren't gonna have a bomb threat at church haha. We talked to him after and we could barely understand him so we were really confused. Maybe we'll see him again!

We met this kid named Zeus and his friend Juan this last week! Yesterday we taught them about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and it was really powerful. They started off not believing in Jesus Christ and left with hope and a desire to believe.

We also met this family who has been struggling with addiction but are determined to overcome it with the power of God. We were able to testify of Jesus Christ's love for them and how willing He is to intervene in their lives if they believe and follow Him. It was a special experience.

Oh and the Johnson boys finally chose a baptismal date! I'm sad I won't be there for it but I'm so excited for them!

This is kind of random but the first time I met our ward mission leader he asked if I was Nihonjin (which means Japanese in Japanese). Thanks to duolingo, I knew what that meant. I don't think anyone has ever guessed my ethnicity right so I was really surprised haha. He has a Japanese wife though so that's probably how he knew.

On Friday morning we got news that the son of a family in our ward got stabbed in Columbia on his mission. We stopped what we were doing and said a prayer for him while doing service. Soon his story went viral and people are praying for him all over the world. His name is Elder Maxwell Fish if you would like to pray for him as well! I haven't known the Fish family for too long but I know they have amazing faith and really appreciate the prayers!

The scripture for this week is 2 Nephi 10:23-24.
"Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved."

God loves us enough to let us choose for ourselves and learn through the process. If we choose the way of eternal life, the grace of God will save us.
