Week 88: A Trip To The ER

My parents have been in San Antonio since last Thursday and it's been such a weird feeling to know that they're so close but not being able to see them in person. I even got to call them on Saturday too because it was my dad's birthday.

Being back on bikes has been fun except that my new companion, Elder Aguado, crashed on his bike and hurt his shoulder. It still hurt pretty bad the next morning so we went to an ER. He got a bone bruise and is wearing a sling so they gave us a car for the time being. He's also been a little sick so we haven't done as much as we would have hoped. Needless to say, it's been an interesting and difficult week.

I found out that some people we were planning on putting on date for baptism in Pleasanton set baptismal dates! I'm so excited for them!! I still miss Pleasanton a lot but Heritage Ward is awesome as well! The members are really cool and we have 3 friends on date. They have a lot to overcome though so it's gonna be a grind.

While walking back to our car one night we met a guy named Sergio chilling on his front doorstep. It was dark so I thought he might be a little creeped out but he was actually really interested in talking with us. He told us that he had just downloaded a Bible app moments before we met him and that he wants to regain his faith in Jesus Christ. It was really cool to see how God put us in that exact location at that exact time. God is good!!

Recently I came across a talk titled "The Atonement" by President Nelson before he was the prophet. He said: "In preparatory times of the Old Testament, the practice of atonement was finite—meaning it had an end. It was a symbolic forecast of the definitive Atonement of Jesus the Christ. His Atonement is infinite—without an end. It was also infinite in that all humankind would be saved from never-ending death. It was infinite in terms of His immense suffering. It was infinite in time, putting an end to the preceding prototype of animal sacrifice. It was infinite in scope—it was to be done once for all. And the mercy of the Atonement extends not only to an infinite number of people, but also to an infinite number of worlds created by Him. It was infinite beyond any human scale of measurement or mortal comprehension. Jesus was the only one who could offer such an infinite atonement, since He was born of a mortal mother and an immortal Father. Because of that unique birthright, Jesus was an infinite Being."

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is so so special to me. Because of His sacrifice, I know I am never alone and I can overcome my imperfections. His Atonement is infinite.
