Week 7: Busy Busy Busy
This week was crazy busy!! P-days are also super busy for me, so this email is probably gonna be super random. Also I wrote this out yesterday but I forgot to hit send... oops.
I got to go to the temple two times in one week! I am so blessed! The first time was with my district and then we went with a convert and her husband from Elder Iverson's old area. The spirit is so strong in the temple. It truly feels like
heaven on earth.
We did service on Saturday for about 4 hours right after frisbee golf with our stake so we were super exhausted. We also did service on exchanges and I had to clean hair out of a shower drain... it was so gross. I just manned up and did it though and the lady was really grateful. Service is such an amazing way to bless both your life and the life of others! I love it!
One night Elder Iverson and I felt prompted to stop by a house on our way home. This guy answered and asked if we were LSD haha. So we told him it's LDS and then he said he was actually baptized in our church when he was younger. He said he was interested in meeting with us too. It was a little confusing, but I guess we'll find out more later if we end up meeting with him.
Elder Tomlinson and I did some street contacting on our exchange and no one wanted to talk to us. One guy acted like we didn't even exist. We were talking to him and he didn't even look up and we were like 15 feet away from him haha. It was a little discouraging but we kept going and on our way back to the car we were able to talk to someone and give him a Book of Mormon!! Diligence brings blessings my friends.
Some fun facts:
- I learned how to ride my bike with no handlebars!
- This one isn't that fun but I got hit in the jaw while playing ultimate frisbee with our stake last week and my jaw still hurts. I was spitting out blood for awhile cause I bit my tongue and cheek pretty bad when I got hit. They take ultimate frisbee very seriously so it gets pretty intense sometimes and I always leave with something hurting haha.
- Elder Tomlinson is getting hit on by a lady that works at our apartment complex and a guy sent him bellybutton pictures hahaha. It was so weird but super funny.
- We went to a restaurant called Magnolia Pancake Haus and it has the best pancakes I've ever tasted. No joke.
- My district unanimously agreed that I look like Chicken Little, so now Lola (the elderly Filipino lady that recently converted) calls me Mr. Chicken Little haha. They said it was a compliment cause Chicken Little is cute so I guess I'll take it.
- A huge bee landed on me while I was riding my bike and I almost crashed
- We went on our usual morning walk to Dunkin' Donuts with Lola yesterday morning and it started pouring rain at the same moment that Lola's legs started cramping so we got totally soaked.
- One of our friends named Austin pulled us aside after church and said he wants to be baptized! We weren't expecting that at all so it's truly a miracle.
I read in D&C 78 yesterday and these verses really stood out to me:
"17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not as yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in his own hands and prepared for you;
18 And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours.
19 And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more."
Isn't that so amazing?? We can't even understand how much God has in store for us. And when we show gratitude God will bless us with more than we can even imagine.
