Week 60: Instruments In The Lord's Hands

Wow, this was probably one of the best weeks of my mission (as far as the work is concerned). The Lord placed us in the path of 16 new people to teach and many others who we just need to set up an appointment with! On Wednesday we found (found = having a first lesson and scheduling another one) 5 new people in one hour. We were truly instruments in the Lord's hands!

Here are some of our new friends:
☆ Alex: He wasn't super open to our message at first but we got talking with him and he told us he's been struggling with the death of his mom. We testified of the Plan of Salvation and he said he really wants to meet with us! We have a lesson tomorrow :)
☆ Yarisma: We read a scripture with her that says, "Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him" and she told us that her sister had just told her earlier that day that she needed to offer her whole self to God. She kinda took that as a sign that she needed to meet with us. The cool part too was that we almost didn't talk to her because it was getting late but the Spirit told me to talk to her so we did!
☆ Liz: We met her a couple weeks ago and stopped by this last week. She lost her son recently and has been struggling with her faith in God. She asked us a lot of questions about why God would do that to her family and I was able to share with her how my family and I found peace and coped with my brother's death. The spirit was really strong and I know she was she could feel it too. Sharing my knowledge of the plan of salvation is one of my favorite things to do and my testimony of it has really grown this last week.

We also had 8 of our friends come to church! Everardo and Angelica's daughter was having a rough time though so they left right before it ended. I think they might be a little embarrassed cause she was pretty loud so we're praying they will still be willing to come in the future.

The scripture this week is Malachi 3:2-3 which says, "But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness."

Just as a refiner who separates precious metals from the dross and removes the impurities, Christ can cleanse us from our sin and purify our hearts! I'm so grateful for a Savior who loves me enough to pay the price for my sins and help me become better everyday.
