Week 40: Thunder Thighs Are Back!

BREAKING NEWS: I'm on a bike again! They took our car cause someone else needed it so now both us and the Sonterra elders are on bikes. Both of our areas are pretty big too, so it's been a little bit of a struggle but we will make it work! I've been biking my whole mission until this last transfer so it was a nice little 6 week break, but I guess president didn't want me to lose the thunder thighs I have been working on for all these months haha.

Y'all we had some awesome miracles this week. First off... Don from Las Palapas!! Elder Neddo and I were out biking and we were HUNGRY. We were debating on where we should stop to get food for about 5-10 minutes until I saw Las Palapas on the map and both of us felt like we should go there. At this moment I just thought it was my craving for tacos but come to find out we were supposed to go there so we could meet Don!! Don was our server and asked us about our religion and the Book of Mormon. He said he wants to meet with us to learn more and gave us his phone number!! Are you kidding me?? That NEVER happens. That's actually a lie though cause it DID happen, so I guess Justin Bieber was right, "never say never".

Our friend Tia came to church!! She was low key ghosting us but then she texted us and said, "I know I'm late but I'm here at the church". We were like what!?!? We had never met her before so we didn't know what she looked like but we found her after and she said she really loves the "vibe" of our church. I agree. She wants to meet with us this week too!!

We stopped at a bus stop and shared a scripture from the Book of Mormon with a lady named Cindy! She asked if she could have one so we gave her a copy! She also said she's been looking for a bible and asked if we had one we could sell to her and we said we give them out for free. She couldn't believe that we would do that! We sadly didn't have one on us at the time though so she said we could set up a time to get one to her!

Also, before we walked into Las Palapas this guy yelled over to us from the drive thru and asked if we were Jehovah's Witness. We went over and started talking to him and he said his name was "Michael, like Michael the archangel" so that was interesting, but he asked for a pamphlet and our number. So maybe he'll call sometime.

Recently we've been meeting the cutest old couples in our ward and it makes me so happy. Gosh I just love elderly people. We helped one couple paint their porch and then had dinner with them and I had the best time.

We also delivered some couches and beds to refugees this week and they were so grateful! All the little kids wanted to help us move everything in. It was so cute how willing they were to help out.

The scripture for March in our mission is Proverbs 29:18. It says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he" (Proverbs 29:18). Luckily this scripture is pretty short so it's not too hard to memorize but I really like it! A lot of people feel like God's commandments are restricting and take away our freedom but it's the complete opposite of that! God's commandments keep us safe from things that can harm and chain us down. Therefore, the commandments keep us free and happy. Don't get me wrong, they can be hard to follow, but as you show God you're willing to be obedient to him your life will improve.

Love y'all!
