Week 99: Slip 'n' Slide
This last week I did a slip 'n' slide on my bike! It was raining and I went to turn into an apartment complex, didn't turn sharp enough, and hit the concrete ledge with the side of my tire. Next thing I knew I was sliding across the concrete. Surprisingly there was no blood but I did get my shirt and tie really dirty.
I got my last transfer news ever! Nothing is changing for Elder Taggart and I but we're getting two new people in our district. It's weird to think I'll be home in about 6 weeks.
We also put our friend Eliannah on baptismal date for May 27th and hopefully we'll be putting a few of our other friends on date soon.
Our friend Nichole, who we met less than two weeks ago, and her daughter came to church yesterday! Nichole also invited her mom to come and they all loved it. I even heard Nichole telling her mom during the service the correct name of the church and that we're followers of Jesus Christ. I was so proud
Yesterday in Stake Conference one of the speakers talked about the miracle of the loaves and fishes described in John 6:
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
The speaker pointed out how inadequate the lad's offering was compared to the task at hand but that Jesus Christ can turn our small insufficient offerings into something magnificent and substantial. Nothing we can offer the Lord is enough but if we give our whole souls to Him He will magnify our offering. As we do this we allow the Lord to change us and are transformed into a new person.
