Week 100: The Freaks Come Out At Night

We were tracting this week and had a weird experience. This is how it went down in the exact sequence that everything happened: We knocked on a door, a man answered the door, he asked what we were doing, we told him, he told us to come inside, we stepped inside, he showed us his grim reaper statues (yes, plurual), he said he worships death, he told us to remove ourselves, he pushed us out and closed the door. Honestly I'm kinda sad that he pushed us out so quick cause I had a lot of questions for him. I didn't know that death was even something someone could worship??

Some other weird experiences include:
- A man telling us that the freaks come out at night and that we better hurry home
- Another man yelling very aggressively at us asking for a quarter
- And another man that had a mat in front of his door that said "If you don't have weed, you cannot proceed". Unfortunately he was not interested.

Our basher friend, Abel, told us that he can't accept the Book of Mormon and tried to give it back to us. We told him it was a gift so he should keep it and it's up to him if he reads it or not. He's honestly pretty cool and it would be sweet to teach him if he wasn't so closed off.

This last week we experienced a lot of rejection and appointments that fell through BUT we also had a few really good lessons.

We invited our friend Patrick to pray about being baptized with priesthood authority and he seems pretty open to it. He's been to church 4 times now as well.

Nichole, her mom Amy, and Hope, came to church again yesterday and they loved it!! We are planning on putting Nichole on baptismal date tonight if everything goes as planned.

We also met an inactive member and she came to church and brought her daughter!

This last week I was studying Jacob 7 which tells the story of a man named Sherem who didn't believe Christ would come and asked Jacob to show him a sign. Because of his pride and unbelief he was struck down and eventually died. This story lead me to a scripture in D&C 63: "But, behold, faith cometh not by signs, but signs follow those that believe. Yea, signs come by faith, not by the will of men, nor as they please, but by the will of God."

Signs do not produce faith but faith can produce signs. When we exercise faith in God we will see His hand in everything. Great are the blessings that come to those that believe!
