Week 97: Lots Of Wind And Sore Legs
Everywhere we biked this last week there was wind pushing against us and I couldn't help but imagine Satan blowing in our faces trying to slow us down haha. It was so bad sometimes that I felt like I was barely moving forward. My legs are completely dead. But the work goes on. Nothing can stop us. People also really like to yell at us from their car or rev their engine right as they pass us. It's kind of annoying but it also keeps things interesting.
Kimiko was baptized! She has a long Hawaiian/Japanese name so I was scared I was going to pronounce it wrong when I baptized her but her mom said I pronounced it really well. They also got temple recommends so hopefully we'll be going to the temple with them on May 17th!
We're now teaching 3 people from Africa! One from Nigeria, one from Burundi, and one from Cameroon. Patrick (the guy who yelled "Mormons!") is the one from Burundi. We had a lesson with him yesterday and he was much more normal this time.
There was a huge storm that came through San Antonio and it flash flooded. The rain was coming down sideways and we could barely see 15 feet in front of us. Thankfully we were with a member eating dinner at Whataburger when it started so they were able to give us a ride home. I don't know how we would've survived on our bikes haha.
This week has once again been stressful but we've continued to meet a lot of cool people and see the Lord working miracles!
2 Nephi 33:10-11 says, "And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good. And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness."
I love this testimony Nephi gives at the end of his writings. I know the words he spoke are true. The Book of Mormon contains the words of Christ and if we truly believe in Him then we will believe in the Book of Mormon. Read it and ask God yourself. He will manifest the truth to you through the Holy Spirit.
