Week 90: It's A War Zone Out Here!
Hey everyone!
My p-day got switched to today because we're going to the temple! I don't have much time to write this so this one will be a little shorter.
On my exchange with Elder Afualo on Thursday we were at this sketch apartment complex and we went up to this guy to talk to him and he said: "I'm a prophet... AND a witch so you probably don't want to talk to me". We talked to him anyways and he agreed to meet again hahaha. I really want to ask him how he can be a prophet and a witch at the same time.
Yesterday we had a lesson with our friend Preston but he wasn't home when we came so we went to another one of our friend's apartments and as we were walking up Preston walked out. Coincidence?? I think not. He was heading to the gas station to get beer so we walked with him and taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He's excited to strengthen his relationship with God and better himself!
A family that we're teaching were told some lies about what we believe so they stopped responding to us over the phone. We stopped by and found out that one of their family members threw their Book of Mormon in the trash but they took it back out. They were still leery of meeting with us because they were told we aren't christian though. We cleared all that up and they're back on track. It's a war zone out here!
Also, I have about 15 weeks left on my mission which is insane. I don't know how to handle it.
In a personal study a couple months ago I came across these verses and they were very powerful to me:
"For can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee, O house of Israel. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me" (Isaiah 49:15-16).
I love this analogy. As unlikely as it is for a mother to forget her nursing child, it's possible. But it is not possible for Jesus Christ to forget us because He has "graven [us] upon the palms of [His] hands". Christ has felt every pain we've ever felt and ever will feel, whether that's physical, emotional, spiritual, etc. He knows us perfectly and has physical scars to stand as a testament of His empathy and love for us. He will never forget us.
