Week 83: Turkey Chase

Y'all this week went by so fast. I barely remember what happened, but thanks to my companion I was able to be reminded of some things...

On Monday night one of our lessons fell through and as we were walking away this lady asked if we could say a prayer for her. I immediately remembered that I had actually talked to her before and that her husband is an inactive member. Last time I saw them he told us that she has schizophrenia and to not talk to her. I felt bad just walking away though so she talked to us for awhile and said some really weird stuff. She said there's an old ugly Asian man watching her and that there's a clown that lingers around the neighborhood breaking lights at night. We finally said a prayer for her and were about to leave and then her husband walks out and talks to us for another 30 minutes. He was all over the place and asked for a priesthood blessing so we ended up going inside to give him one but got out of there real quick cause they were giving us weird vibes. We're teaching their neighbor so now anytime we stop by we have to get in our truck really quick so they don't see us

On Wednesday we went to the Burhans for dinner (a member family that live way out in the boonies). When we were waiting for dinner to be ready they told us about their neighbor's turkey that flew over the fence and couldn't get back over. Then we ended up going outside to scare it over but it wouldn't fly. So they grabbed a net, scooped it up, and threw it over the fence hahaha. I'll send a video of it.

We had dinner with a family whose mom (Nichole) got baptized 10 years ago but went inactive and her husband (Trevor) isn't a member. They've been living in our area for over 6 months but no one knew about them until the relief society president had a prompting to stop by them. Nichole had been receiving promptings to come back to church for awhile but didn't know how to bring it up to her husband. She was actually gone when the relief society president stopped by but that was good because Trevor was able to be introduced to the church. Now they've come to church twice and they said it feels like home! Trevor has some doubts about the church but he's becoming more open to it and is really nice! Nichole said that when she left the church she told the missionaries she would never step foot in an LDS church again but now look where we are! It's been very cool to see how God has been working in their lives and I've learned that there is always a way back for those who stray off the path.

Last night we had a couple hours left of proselyting and we had the thought to stop by a family we met a couple weeks ago but haven't been able to teach. When we knocked on their door they let us right in and we taught them the about the restoration of the gospel! They seemed really intrigued and asked a lot of questions. One of the questions they asked was if we had to serve missions to be saved cause that's what they thought we believed hahaha. I'm glad we were able to clear that up but it makes me wonder if other people think the same thing about us?? Anyways it was actually impeccable timing because they are moving today, so that was literally the last chance we had to talk with them. They said they'd talk with missionaries in their new area so now we're just waiting for them to send us their new address!

I came across this scripture during my personal study this week and I love it!
"But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love" (2 Nephi 1:15). Many times on my mission I have felt like I could proclaim these same words. How great is the glory and love of our God!
