Week 68: Missionary Superbowl!!

Savannah and Ryan got married last Wednesday and had their baptismal interview yesterday so everything is good to go for their baptism this Saturday! They're so excited! We taught them the commandments this week and it amazed me how willing they were to follow them and to make immediate changes in their lives. Their faith is so inspiring to me.

We found out that there's an activity scheduled at the church on October 11th so we moved Rigo's date to October 9th. We also taught him the commandments and he is totally willing to follow them but he's been a bit flaky recently so we're not sure if he'll be getting baptized on the 9th or not. Please pray for him!!

Some other experiences we had this week include:
- Teaching a girl with bipolar disorder and having to talk her out of ending her life
- Cooking soup and washing dishes for a baptist preacher who is sick
- Inviting someone to read in the Book of Mormon after teaching the whole restoration lesson and being rejected for no reason
- Teaching a lesson all by myself to Rigo because his friend Alonzo was going off about the Bible and current events to my companion
- Being sick for half the week but acting like I wasn't because we had things to do... but now I'm losing my voice so I'm not sure how much longer I can live a lie

Oh also this is a bit late and you probably won't remember him but Josue decided to stop meeting with us because his family convinced him to. I was super sad about that but I have hope that one day he will run into missionaries again and the Spirit will bring back those feelings he got when meeting with us and reading the Book of Mormon.

We had General Conference (a worldwide broadcast our church has every 6 months where we get to hear from our living prophet and apostles!) which is basically the superbowl for missionaries haha. It really lifted my spirit and encouraged me to keep pushing forward with faith!

One of my favorite quotes from General Conference is from Elder Holland's talk. He said: "A true Christian cannot follow the Master only in those matters with which he or she agrees. No. We follow Him everywhere, including, if necessary, into arenas filled with tears and trouble, where sometimes we may stand very much alone."

Being a disciple of Christ does not fix life's problems or make it easy. Sometimes it may require us to stand out and be different from others. Often times the path will be scary and uncomfortable but it's also the most joyful path you can be on. The world offers temporary pleasure but Christ offers everlasting joy.

I love y'all! Feel free to shoot me an email and let me know how y'all are doing! Miss you!!
