Week 56: "I'm Drunk, I Wanna Eat, And Go To Sleep"

As the random guy that walked out of his house said yesterday, "I'm drunk, I wanna eat, and go to sleep". I felt that. Well.... maybe not the drunk part but yeah.

Soon after that encounter we got caught in a rainstorm and had a quick lesson under a car port! It was so loud we could barely hear anything each other were saying but we weren't gonna let no rain stop us from doing the Lord's work

I gave a talk in church (these people really never leave me alone) and I didn't die! 3 of our friends came to church as well and it was the first time for one of them. His name is Gabriel (I think I might've mentioned him awhile ago). He volunteered to read something in elders quorum and even answered questions!! He's a tank!! He also told us he would finish reading the Book of Mormon in about a month. Whaaaatt?? Oh and fun fact... we were about to stop teaching him and then he called us randomly and set up an appointment. Miracles are real y'all

We taught the Plan of Salvation (God's plan for us) to our friends Everardo and Angelica and I asked them if they believe that what we said is true and they said, "Well, why wouldn't we?". They're so right. Most people don't accept it that fast though haha so that was cool.

Everyone and their dog have covid right now so it's been hard to meet with people but Ketsaly is still on track to be baptized tomorrow! She's experiencing some opposition from her mom though so keep her in your prayers!! She's been such a trooper through all of this.

For my spiritual thought today I'll share an excerpt from my talk:

As the apostle Paul described, the church is "built upon apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone" (Ephesians 2:20). When Jesus Christ performed His earthly ministry, he organized and established His church. After His death and resurrection the apostles were killed, the foundation of the church crumbled, and people started basing their beliefs on their own philosophies and interpretations. Eventually, when the conditions were right, Jesus Christ restored His church back upon the earth with the same divine structure He had established in the meridian of time.

We can especially see this divine structure in the calling of prophets ever since the first prophet, Adam, lived on the earth until the current day with President Nelson as our prophet. But why are prophets so important? In Ammon's ministry to King Limhi in the Book of Mosiah he teaches that a prophet, also known as a seer, "can know of things which are past, and also of things which are to come, and by them shall all things be revealed, or, rather, shall secret things be made manifest, and hidden things shall come to light, and things which are not known shall be made known by them, and also things shall be made known by them which otherwise could not be known. Thus God has provided a means that man, through faith, might work mighty miracles; therefore he becometh a great benefit to his fellow beings" (Mosiah 8:17-18). This doctrine is also confirmed in the 3rd chapter of Amos which says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7).

Prophets have always been a vital part of God’s church. They are the way in which God establishes and clarifies His doctrine and guides the people of the church. Just think, if every person were able to receive revelation on God’s doctrine then there would be a lot of confusion and contention. This is why God calls prophets and qualifies them to be His mouthpiece here on earth.

Prophets are so important!! Want to hear from a living prophet? Watch this video! It's a little long but you won't regret it. He even makes jokes
