Week 55: Attack Of The Cockroach

President Tveten and his family finished their mission this week. I'm going to miss them so much. They have played a huge role in my conversion and I really respect them! We met our new mission president, President Fitzgerald, and his wife on Wednesday and they're so funny and nice! It was kinda weird how fast they switch, it felt like my parents died and got replaced by some randos. We love the Fitzgeralds though, don't get me wrong.

I had one of the most horrific experiences on Wednesday night. I was laying in my bed preparing for a good night's sleep and then I felt something hit my leg. I thought maybe I had imagined it but just to play it safe I had Elder Anderson shine a light on my bed and there was a COCKROACH ON ME EHTJWBROSRBI. The moment my brain processed what was happening I legitimately flew across the room to Elder Anderson's bed. In the attempt to escape my imminent death I had flipped the blankets on top of it, so we couldn't see it anymore. I asked (probably more like commanded) Elder Anderson to exterminate it. Well, let's just say it did not go as smooth as I would have hoped and Elder Anderson ended up chasing it around our apartment for awhile. He eventually caught it though and chucked it outside as I kept a considerably safe distance. I'm a bit paranoid that more cockroaches will be dropping from the ceiling now. Oh the joys of living in Texas.

Oh and for the past 2 weeks or so there has been a large amount of ants in our apartment and they keep getting into my laundry hamper!! I didn't know how to get rid of them so I just keep vacuuming them up haha. There's probably so many in the vacuum right now.

Uhhh so remember Daniel? Yeah uh he doesn't want to meet with us anymore. We think he got into some anti online. He doesn't even want to talk to us about his concerns. V sad, It's okay though, it just be like that sometimes.

Idk if I've talked about them before, but we met with the Russell and Victoria Miller this last week and all he wanted to talk about was this letter sent to our church with a bunch of claims against it. Elder Anderson and I honestly did really well at answering the questions but it gave me a lot of anxiety. The questions and claims he brought up didn't shake my faith at all but I hate any sort of contention so I got a lil nervy. I testified of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and Jesus Christ like no other though. Honestly it really strengthened my testimony. They also came to church on Sunday and it was a very interesting testimony meeting (the first Sunday of every month anyone in the congregation can go up and share their testimony) so we're hoping they weren't too critical. Knowing them though, they probably were.

We met some very interesting people this week. The first guy, Regal, answered the door when we were trying to stop by someone and he was seriously so odd. He kept saying things, stopping halfway through his sentence, and expecting us to finish it. He thought he was quoting the Bible but I'm pretty sure he wasn't lol. At one point he was on his knees and he kept getting really close to our faces. I was very confused about what was going on. He asked us to come back to talk but I don't think we will haha. We also randomly knocked on someone's door and a guy named Carlos came out to talk to us. He told us we were wrong for observing the Sabbath on Sunday, saying Jesus Christ instead of Immanuel, not observing the 7 festivities, etc. Elder Anderson got a little heated haha so I had to calm it down and get us out of there. It was interesting to hear his beliefs though.

We helped out with a color run this morning and it was seriously so fun!! I got chalk in my ears, eyes, nose, throat, etcetera, but I had a good time nonetheless. (Pictures below)

Recently we've been showing a video of Jeffery R. Holland sharing his testimony of the Book of Mormon to the members here and asking them how The Book of Mormon has played an important role in their life. My answer would be that The Book of Mormon brings so much clarity to the doctrine Jesus Christ taught and it's truly helped me to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. There really is no other way that Joseph Smith would have been able to translate the Gold Plates into the Book of Mormon than by the power of God. He also wouldn't have endured the things he did if he had not known with a surety that what he was doing was inspired of God. There could have been no other motivation, and I know this through reading the Book of Mormon, learning of Joseph Smith, and praying to know that it is true. If you want to know if this is true or not then I invite you to do the same!

Love y'all!
