Week 27: The Grind Continues
It's a new transfer with a new companion! I stayed in Summerglen Hills and Elder Yardley got transferred in! I flipping love him so maybe this 7 week transfer will be bearable after all. We both want to road trip around the US and visit all the national parks and we also have the same taste in music so he's Elder Christensen approved.
Oh and whoever told me it never gets cold here lied. Some mornings it's been in the 30s and I'm freezing my butt off. Especially while biking
We got a media referral from a lady named Maria saying she wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon. We found out she actually lives in our apartment complex so we went and dropped a Book of Mormon off and she said she wants to come to church. Eithebfdifjrkerbeje what?! Elder Yardley and I have never had a media referral like this before so we are very excited!!
We stopped by our friend Sheilla and ended up having a really long conversation with her. It's been hard to meet with her because of family issues so it was nice to actually talk in person. She told us she believes the Book of Mormon is true but doesn't want to abandon her church. So hopefully we can keep meeting with her and help her feel comfortable with coming to our church.
Bahama Mama (AKA Sheila. Not Sheilla. I know it's confusing.) came to church!! AND she loved it!! She said she will come every Sunday as long as someone gives her a ride. I don't know if I've talked about her before, but she's the sweetest old lady from the Bahamas and she calls us her sons (or "church friends" haha). I love her so much.
Scripture of the week is Alma 33:11
"And thou didst hear me because of mine afflictions and my sincerity; and it is because of thy Son that thou hast been thus merciful unto me, therefore I will cry unto thee in all mine afflictions, for in thee is my joy; for thou hast turned thy judgments away from me, because of thy Son."
On my mission and throughout my life I have seen how much joy comes through following and relying on Jesus Christ. Because of Him we can be forgiven of our sins and succored in our afflictions. Christ loves each of you individually and is aware of everything you're going through. Never forget that!
