Week 13: Trust In God's Timing!
Howdy y'all! This week was much better than the last few so I'm pretty happy about that.
When we moved our couch was taken away because apparently they aren't allowed anymore (idk why) but we got some nice ikea chairs from the moving elders so now we have comfy chairs to sit in!!
I got to drive for the first time since I started my mission!! We're in a carshare with the other elders we live with but we never take the car because their area is bigger. We had somewhere to go real quick though so they let us take the car. Elder Iverson is in his last transfer so he's not allowed to drive because of legal precautions so I got to drive! It was only for like 10 minutes but I enjoyed it very much.
Elder Iverson and I were heading out to go street contacting and this lady called over to us and asked if we could help her bring some boxes up to her apartment. She told us she would pay us and we kindly declined but insisted that we still help her. She was extremely grateful and couldn't get over the fact that missionaries would be living on the floor beneath her. She tried to pay us again so I told her that we try to emulate Christ as much as we can and he went about serving people. When I said this she started to cry and told us that there was this peace that came over her when she asked for our help. She told us we were an answer to her prayers and that she would love to hear our message! Oh her name is Paula btw and I think her son is interested in meeting with us too!
We had an awesome lesson with Miguel last Tuesday! I don't know if I've ever mentioned him before, but we've been teaching him ever since I got here and he's really starting to progress! We re-taught him the restoration lesson and invited him to pray and ask specifically if the Book of Mormon is true. He's been reading in the Book of Mormon everyday and he's really connecting with it. We told him we would fast with him while he's trying to receive his answer and he said he wants to do it! So we'll probably be doing that sometime this week.
I found someone on Facebook that is interested in meeting with us! He lives on the other side of San Antonio but is going to drive all the way over here to meet with us tomorrow!! He said wants to meet at Dunkin' Donuts so we can get coffee. I haven't broke the news to him that we don't drink coffee yet, but I guess he'll find out tomorrow haha.
We invited a lot of people to church and we had really high hopes that at least one would show up, but none of them did. BUT this Arabian women named Hamdiyah showed up out of nowhere and stayed all two hours! She doesn't live in our teaching area so we won't be teaching her, but some other elders in our zone will be!
The scripture of the week is Mosiah 7:33. It says,
"But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage."
This last week we were really diligent and trusted in God's timing. It's definitely not easy, but God recognizes your dedication and will bless you. It may not always be some spectacular thing but you'll find those blessings as you look for them. This past week I've been able to see God's hand in my life by trusting in Him and I hope you can do the same!
Love y'all!
