Week 12: Angels Round About

Hey everyone!

This last week was honestly super crappy, but it ended so good!

First off, I forgot to mention my favorite person, Tim Tardo! I was on an exchange with Elder Jolstead about 2 weeks ago and we were riding on our bikes and then a car pulls up and this guy says, "What is the gospel?" I immediately knew this guy just wanted to bash but Elder Jolstead is very new and I don't think he knew what was about to happen. So long story short... Elder Jolstead and Tim Tardo kinda went at it for a few minutes and it was honestly kind of entertaining. Elder Jolstead soon figured out that this dude was not gonna listen to us, so we gave him our phone number and said we'd love to talk if he was truly open to learning more about our religion and we went on our merry way. The next day Tim called and left a message. Elder Iverson decided to look him up on area book and finds out this dude has tried to bible bash with missionaries before... so we haven't called him back and we're not planning on it haha.

A guy rebuked us for biking in the heat the other day. He told us that he appreciated what we were doing but that we were stupid. He had a fair point, but like he didn't have to be mean about it lol.

This last week was yet again another slow week with lots of cancelations and no shows. Elder Iverson and I were a little down about it yesterday, but we pushed through and went out street contacting. We were in the area of someone who we've been trying to meet up with for awhile, so we asked if he'd like us to stop by and he said yes! We called him when we got to his apartment complex and we thought he said his apartment number was 5103, but when we knocked on the door a woman answered. So we ended up talking to her for awhile and she said she would be interested in coming to our church! We asked her if she believes in Christ and she said yes, so we asked how her faith has blessed her life. She shared that her dad died a few years ago and it was a really hard time for her but that her faith has kept her going. I immediately felt prompted to share that it was exactly nine years ago that my brother passed away and I felt kind of weird about it, but I followed the prompting anyway. I also told her about my knowledge of the plan of salvation and eternal families and how much peace that brings me. Then we talked a little more and right before we left she turned to her two little kids and said, "Girls, we found another church to go to!" We almost cried when she said that. Elder Iverson told me later that he had prayed earlier in the day that he knew it was the anniversary of my brother's death and that it was a hard day for me, but that we might find someone who could hear my testimony of the plan of salvation and eternal families. And we found that person. It's crazy how a misunderstanding can turn into a miracle! God works in mysterious ways.

In D&C 84:88 it says,

"And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."

My mom shared this on a post the other day and it reminded me how much I love this scripture!! Elder Iverson and I prayed that we would be able to find someone last night and we ended up talking to 4 people and met Jasmine! (The lady whose door we accidently knocked on) I could feel angels round about us yesterday and I'm positive that Hunter and my sister, Jenna, who was stillborn, were two of those angels. I was praying all day that they could be with me throughout my day and I truly felt them there.

I love y'all!!
